Maya Hu-Chan, M.A., MCC

Maya Hu-Chan is an executive coach, trainer, lecturer and best-selling author. Her area of expertise includes executive presence, strategic communication, leading global and multicultural teams, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Maya is ranked as one of the top leadership coaches and thought leaders by several publications.

Maya has coached thousands of leaders worldwide in high tech, pharmaceutical, finance, retail, non-profits and public sectors.  Her coaching clients range from C-level executives to high potential talents in various functions. Maya has a proven track record of building leadership capabilities to enable growth and change, aligned with business and personal goals. Maya’s ability to significantly advance the leadership effectiveness of executives has led to important and measurable results. Over 70% of her coaching clients were promoted during or soon after the coaching engagement.She has lectured at the Brookings Institute, UC San Diego, University of Chicago, University of Southern California and Dartmouth College.

Her latest book “Saving Face: How to Preserve Dignity and Build Trust” (Berrett Koehler 2020) was a best seller on Amazon. Harvard Business School chose her book “Global Leadership: The Next Generation” as their Working Knowledge book.  She is a contributing author of 14 books and columnist for INC.com.  She was recognized as a Top8 Global Solutions Thinker by Thinkers 50 and one of the Top 100 Thought Leaders by Management and Leadership.

Born and raised in Taiwan, Maya is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English. She earned her M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and B.A. from National Chengchi University in Taiwan. Prior to her coaching career, Maya was an anchor at the China Broadcasting Company in Taiwan, and the CEO of a non-profit organization in California.
