Karen Matterson
Karen is an executive coach with a track record of influencing organizational change at multiple levels by devising and executing coaching strategies focused on improving leadership skills, business acumen, and performance. Karen works with both private and non-profit organizations and has a reputation of listening and guiding her clients on what matters most. Karen believes in coaching the whole person and not just the issue at hand, utilizing a values-based and purpose driven approach
Prior to launching her coaching practice, Karen served as the Chief People Officer (CPO) of both Global Payments Inc. and Reading Partners. As a CPO she led human resources and was responsible for ensuring delivery of key strategic, high visibility initiatives. She is an innovative, inspirational Human Resources executive and a visionary leader who balances the interests of employees, customers, and the organization. Her more than 25 years of success in Human Resources includes expertise and achievements in HR strategy and operations, talent acquisition and management, leadership development, employee engagement, and M&A integration. In this role and many prior to the CPO, Karen organically coached leaders at every level of the organizations she worked. Prior to joining Global Payments, Karen served in several HR leadership roles in multiple industries and organizations including Georgia Federal Bank, The Coca-Cola Company, Blockbusters and John H. Harland Company.
Karen holds a B.B.A. with a major in Human Resources from Georgia State University. She completed her training and coaching certification from The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. She is certified in The Leadership Circle Profile, a 360 assessment tool. She actively serves as board member for Forelife, Inc. and is a patron of the performing arts. She resides in Atlanta with her husband and enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.
